Job Summary: Equinix is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join its Developer Relations team. In this role, you will work within our team to create, maintain, support, and promote integrations for Equinix products and services. You will advise developers and users, internally and publicly, on design patterns that improve the integration experience.
Responsibilities
Fit Equinix platform features and APIs to third-party SDKs, tools, and platforms
Deliver tested and documented integrations and features
Define and reduce scope to prioritize the work needed to achieve goals
Encourage, foster, and support partner and user-led integration efforts
Automate builds, tests, deployments, and chores
Communicate integration, partner, and user needs to platform teams
Communicate integration and platform features and limitations to partners and users
Identify customer needs and provide solutions for infrastructure deployment and scale
Create public and internal roadmaps and changelogs for integrations
Educate and mentor contributors and junior team members with detailed analysis and constructive feedback
Report on usage and experience to inform priority
Qualifications
8+ years of experience supporting or developing cloud-native or similar technologies
6+ years of experience in software development
3+ years of experience with Go and Python
Appetite for learning, using, developing, and improving specifications and SDKs
Ability to balance transparency and confidentiality along with optimism and pragmatism
Enthusiasm for open-source collaboration and experience giving and taking public feedback
Experience developing applications, APIs, or platforms
Experience using infrastructure as code tools and a desire to drive automation
Experience with containerization and virtualization platforms (VMWare, Xen, KVM, Docker, etc.)
Experience supporting customers directly or asynchronously
Proficiency in using GitHub and developing CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency with Ubuntu, RedHat, or other Linux environments (including OS, disk, network management)
Adaptability when designs, projects, situations, or priorities inevitably change
Ability to manage multiple projects and help guide team members as needed
Ability to represent our platform and integrations in public articles, podcasts, or streams
Experience managing network and hardware infrastructure, protocols, and software
Experience developing Kubernetes controllers or building plugins for Terraform, Ansible, and similar tools
Experience managing stakeholder expectations, prioritizing your own work while collaborating across teams
For CO residents: In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for this role is $175K – $245K per year with 30% bonus target.
