Job Summary: Equinix is seeking an experienced communicator to serve as the Senior Manager of Global Internal Communications. This will be a person with a passion for integrated communications strategy and storytelling, a focus on employee engagement, and an ability to execute across a dynamic and fast-growing organization. This person also brings a strong and diverse understanding of emerging digital technologies and best practices; intranet design; strategic internal campaigns; content strategy and development; and overall experience in multimedia communications.
In this role, you will develop and execute internal communications strategies and digital experiences that build an incredible employee experience that supports our strong, vibrant culture and fosters a clear understanding of Equinix’s mission, goals, strategy, and success. Every day, you will play a vital role in ensuring employees are informed, engaged and inspired, and will have the liberty to create, refine and innovate on the experience we provide.
To do this, you will work across the organization to refine our internal storytelling efforts and create a programmatic approach that delivers measurable impact. Your work will support the company’s overall employee engagement efforts and is part of the larger integrated communications programming. You will partner cross-functionally with the broader Communications team to execute the strategy, create integrated communications programming, and develop content that resonates for the global and local audiences. You will also serve as a strategic communications partner to leaders, communicators in regions and functions, and to key stakeholders across the organization, providing counsel and support for a broad range of high-profile internal communication efforts.
This role reports into the Director of Global Internal Communications.
Responsibilities
Serve as program manager and digital strategist for the Internal Communications team
Execute day-to-day activities, measure results for all campaigns and programs, and demonstrate progress on company and departmental goals
Design, build, and roll out creative employee communications programs that increase awareness, understanding, engagement and foster a deep emotional connection across a broad employee base
Be an expert storyteller and incredible writer who brings out the magic of Equinix – by finding and developing compelling narratives and holistic campaigns that deeply resonate with employees
Bring innovative thinking, creative ideas, an external perspective, global and regional insights, diverse perspectives and higher-level awareness into everything you do
Contribute to key employee events and engagement vehicles – including the quarterly Company Meeting, the intranet (The Hub), Manager Communications and more
Develop and refine messaging, including intranet articles, executive emails, briefing documents, talking points, video scripts and Q&A documents as needed
Support internal communications strategy and programming for major corporate initiatives like our global ‘return to the office’, as well as initiatives around community and belonging, diversity and inclusion, sustainability, and more
Enable, influence, counsel and develop a strong partnership across the broader communications team and with executives, business leaders and the larger organization – especially as it pertains to advising on how to best communicate and amplify key initiatives and priorities
Work cross-functionally with executive and functional communications leads to create and deliver well-integrated communication programs, narratives and executive platforms
Constantly experiment with, learn from and adapt our communication strategies, programs and tactics to reach and engage very different sets of stakeholders; comfortable injecting passion and creativity, and in trying new things
Partner with employees to bring their stories to life
Be sensitive, understanding and culturally aware of our unique differences and similarities; utilize best practices for inclusive, global communications
Establish goals and communication strategies grounded in data; leverage analytics to constantly improve and refine the team’s approach
Qualifications
7+ years’ communications experience – creating and implementing strategies and developing online content; ideally having worked with a Fortune 500 B2B technology company
A collaborative leader capable of building cross-functional relationships to drive change and influence business decisions; exhibits a no-job-is-too-big-or-small attitude
Demonstrated excellence in strategic storytelling, writing/editing, project management, strategic planning and execution, executive coaching, event management, crisis management/communications, change management, and multimedia communications
Experience managing content for web, video, social and print and development of content strategy
Strong planning and project management skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Digital acumen and knowledge of digital communications trends and standards/designs/best practices including user experience for web, email, mobile and social media
Experience with metrics gathering and reporting to measure communication performance, to optimize going forward and to understand audience behaviors
Experience in the development of channel roadmaps to improve communication effectiveness
Experience with visual design and layout and working with creative resources
Experience with channel maintenance and managing digital communications workflow and quality assurance process
Passion for building process and structure to support high growth and optimizing execution of day-to-day operations and deliverables
Exemplary written, verbal and presentation skills
Demonstrated passion for building a strong internal culture
Crisis communications experience, as well as experience dealing with sensitive workforce and workplace issues
Detail-oriented with ability to handle various tasks simultaneously under multiple deadlines
Highly collaborative nature with experience working cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization where you must partner, manage through influence, and set others up for success
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related area preferred
Strong understanding of key technology and communication tools, including PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, SharePoint, and SmartSheets, as well as a willingness and ability to quickly embrace new tools
