Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate activities of the payroll staff for USA and Canada payrolls, ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner

  • Manage the Automatic Data Processing (ADP) payrolls for the North American region

  • Oversee processes for new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, time sheet data, pay rate changes, garnishments and expense reimbursements, commission and bonus payments, retroactive adjustments, special pay, and sick leave.

  • Interpret new legislation impacting payroll and work with payroll vendor, HR, legal and IT teams to implement changes

  • Resolve questions/problems regarding employee paychecks, direct deposit

  • Perform audits of payroll detail for accuracy to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and internal policy and procedures

  • Leads all aspects of the maintenance of associate payroll data including regulatory reporting, responding to governmental agency inquiries

  • Consistently looks for automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency

  • Organize, secure and maintain all files, records in accordance with policies and procedures archive and retains employee payroll records and files

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience preferred with at least 7 years multi state payroll experience paying 2,000+ employees

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Previous experience, ideally within Canada

  • Highly proficient in interpreting payroll rules and regulations, including US States (CA in particular)

  • Previous experience of ADP Payforce, Streamline, Global View and other ADP platforms

  • Excellent Excel skills and presentation skills

  • Previous experience with Workday HRIS System

  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills

  • Previous experience with Payroll accounting

  • Structured/Organized approach to work

  • Previous experience with Time & Labor tracking systems

  • Experience of people management

  • Project Management experience

  • Promote teamwork and lead by example with positive attitude

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Certification (CPP) preferred

In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for Colorado for this role is $113,000 – $155,000 per year with 25% bonus target.
