Leads day-to-day operations of a large team of Civil Engineering and Construction Project Managers. Provides strategic direction, mentors junior staff, and makes tactical decisions to resolve site and structural challenges. Oversees construction project costs, methods, and team selection for infrastructure and building works.

Responsibilities

Management

  • Provides leadership across a team of civil and construction professionals to ensure alignment with organizational goals and project delivery standards.
  • Sets performance goals and development plans for direct reports.

Project Management

  • Leads medium to large-scale civil construction programs, including site development, structural builds, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Coordinates with internal teams, contractors, engineers, architects, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely, budget-conscious, and high-quality project delivery.
  • Oversees ground-up construction, renovations, and civil works such as foundations, utilities, drainage, and structural systems.
  • Defines project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develops detailed project plans including timelines, budgets, and resource allocations tailored to civil engineering requirements.
  • Conducts feasibility studies and risk assessments for construction sites and structural integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with building codes, safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Conducts regular site inspections to monitor progress, safety, and quality of work.
  • Identifies and mitigates risks related to construction delays, material shortages, and site conditions.
  • Maintains project schedules and coordinates with contractors and suppliers to meet milestones.
  • Prepares and presents project status reports to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintains organized documentation including contracts, change orders, site reports, and permits.

Vendor Relations

  • Manages up to 20 external vendors per project including general contractors, civil engineers, surveyors, design teams, and equipment suppliers.
  • Serves as the main liaison between all project stakeholders.
  • Facilitates collaboration and ensures alignment with project goals and construction standards.
  • Manages stakeholder expectations and provides regular updates.

Training Programs

  • Identifies and contributes to training programs focused on civil construction techniques, safety, and compliance.
  • Participates in cross-functional training and knowledge sharing.

Contract Administration

  • Oversees contract administration including drafting, reviewing, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, and cost forecasts.

Leadership

  • Mentors junior team members in civil engineering and construction practices.
  • Directs internal and external project teams including design, procurement, operations, and technical support.

Policy & Procedure Development

  • Contributes to the development and refinement of construction policies, procedures, and standards.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in civil engineering and construction project management, with at least 5 years in large-scale infrastructure or building projects.
  • Proven track record of managing complex construction projects from planning to completion.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, structural systems, and legal regulations.
  • Familiarity with site development, geotechnical considerations, and environmental compliance.
  • Willingness to travel and conduct frequent site visits.
