Job Profile Summary

Primarily provides pre-sales technical consultancy for the development and implementation of complex solutions. Utilizes broad industry knowledge and expertise in finding products and solutions to meet customer needs. Prepares detailed product specifications and designs for the development and implementation of customer solutions. Provides consultation to prospective customers during customer meetings, tours, assessments and validations. Customer-facing, capable of customer demand creation and cross-regional coordination and collaboration. Can provide post-sales technical expertise during installation and contract-fulfilment.

Senior Lead field sales engineering position selling Equinix solutions to new accounts and/or expanding existing accounts. Focus on the most strategic global accounts in the region, facilitating account planning, leading extended sales team on complex multi-region/ multi-metro sales.

Responsibilities

Technical Consulting and Sales Support

  • Identifies customer’s business needs, challenges, and technical requirements and maps to Equinix solutions

  • Subject matter expert for product(s), technologies, industry, etc.

  • Drives improvement of company policies, processes and procedures, and products

  • Provides full support for most strategic global accounts in the region

  • Shapes and provides guidance to other personnel and mentors members of the Sales Engineering team

Solution Design and Deliverables

  • Regularly hosts meetings with C-level executives

  • Provides expert technical solution design expertise to all assigned Sales account executives

  • Creates and drives practices and procedures

  • Drives complex RFI/P/Q preparation as requested by Sales Representatives

  • Expert in developing all deliverables for the customer; may provide leadership and guidance to others on customer deliverables

Customer Service

  • Communicates with customers (internal and external) in a world class, professional, friendly and effective manner, both verbally and in writing

  • Develops and drives pre-sales efforts for all company products and services

  • Provides world class support in sales presentations, customer meetings, and trade shows

Business and Market Expertise

  • Recognized for thought leadership; speaks at events

  • World class understanding and awareness of technology trends in the market

  • World class understanding of Equinix data center, Network, and Cloud products and services

  • World class familiarity with the competitive landscape

Collaboration/ Communication

  • Drives new business opportunities and grows existing customer relationships

  • Influences internal teams (CSM, OM, IM, Ops, etc.) to ensure smooth project transition from pre-sales to post-sales

  • Drives positive culture on the team

  • Demonstrates outstanding presentation skills

Team Leadership

  • Drives initiatives and team projects to better the organization

  • Demonstrates excellent team and thought leadership; is a recognized SME

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • 8+ years customer facing experience in related industry

  • This opportunity requires a BS degree or equivalent experience in computer-related field.

  • Channel related technical sales support and experience desirable

  • Experience working on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

  • Ability to exercise discernment within our Equinix guidelines in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining the right solutions for our clients

  • Ability to understand and explain related technical issues, thorough knowledge of company products, all potential applications and associated technologies

  • You'll be collaborating with other departments and with our prospective and current customers so effective interpersonal skills are required
