We believe that a healthy, open ecosystem is critical to the future of hybrid multi-cloud networking technology. The Equinix Digital Services Business Unit is looking for a motivated, visionary leader to take Equinix’s engagement in hybrid multi-cloud networking open source to the next level.  

If you are passionate and familiar with the open-source community space and have experience of building a community, we are looking for you. If you are comfortable speaking on stage at conferences and skilled in the art of building an open-source community. You enjoy connecting with people around the world in different industries and look to interact with them on Hybrid Multi-Cloud projects strategic to Equinix. You are highly technical, can understand the projects, and can mentor those who look to learn about them. At Equinix, we put the customer at the center of what we do, and we value diversity of perspective.  

You will develop the strategy to build and champion Equinix’s vision in the Hybrid Multi-Cloud Networking space. You will build an outreach plan for content development, virtual & live events, engagement with the CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation), Linux Foundation (LF), other foundations, press & analyst relations. You will be supported by a passionate group of experts and developers.

Responsibilities at Equinix:

• Build and expand the viability of Equinix as an industry leader in Hybrid Multi-cloud Networking open-source community by promoting Equinix’s contributions to open-source projects & communities that align with our overall strategy.  

• Develop and curate Hybrid Multi-cloud networking content that is engaging while addressing both business goals and community needs. This could include press releases, white papers, social media promotions, blogs, etc.  

• Work with Equinix engineering, legal, talent acquisition teams to turn contributions into stories highlighting the power of Open Source  

• Cultivate Equinix’s open-source presence and reputation in open-source organizations, standards bodies and more like Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Linux Foundation, etc.  

• Shepard new companies & partners interested in beginning their open-source journey in the Hybrid Multi-Cloud Networking space.  

• Be a self starter, comfortable in working in an unstructured environment 

• Build a culture of open source as an advocate outside and inside the company for open-Source best practices.  

Qualifications: 

• Prior experience with leading teams responsible for developer relations or community advocacy 

• 5+ years of experience running developer relations or community advocacy programs 

• 5+ years of working experience in the open-source industry 

• Commitment to building an open, diverse, and inclusive developer community 

• Analytical and data driven in your approach to building and nurturing communities 

• Familiarity with developer tools, continuous integration, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud native technologies in general 

• Excellent writing and verbal communications skills from engineering to executive. 

• Excellent collaboration and people skills. 

• Relationships in prominent open-source communities are a plus 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code & Hybrid Multi-Cloud Networking 

• Experience with creating highly technical content, tutorials, and blogs. 

• Experience speaking at conferences, developer summits, or virtual events. 

• Experience working in or managing open-source software communities. 

• Experience teaching, writing, or hosting workshops.
