Job Summary: At Equinix, Operations Compliance stewardship is of paramount importance. This position is responsible for compliance management and oversight of Equinix’s data centers in the AMER region. This role will be responsible for over-seeing implementation, governance and continuous improvement of Equinix’s Operations policies and processes. It will also play a key role in further enhancing culture and awareness of compliance within our data center environments. This role is that of a deep subject matter expert adept at developing compliance strategies and programs across multiple subject areas. This role is a hybrid role and will also be required to be hands on in compliance support for site staff from assigned data centers.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and manage compliance team in scope (as applicable).
  • Ensure adherence to regional/global compliance programs, policies, and processes for the sites in scope.
  • Oversee management and provide guidance to staff on audit findings. Also identify trends in audit findings to address root cause.
  • Local/country/regional certification ownership as agreed with Global Operations Compliance team.
  • Implements a comprehensive EHS Program for the region in partnership with Global Operations Compliance.
  • Manages compliance governance over sites in scope to ensure consistency of global process/policy implementation.
  • Manages escalations and overall monitoring of compliance related training as needed.
  • Acts as a single point of contact for Global Operations Compliance/Global EHS for any process rollouts and/or escalations.
  • Ensures 1st line QISBC (Quality, Security, Business Continuity Compliance) and EHS (Environment, Health & Safety Compliance) support is efficiently and consistently provided for assigned sites.
  • Holds routine status meetings with compliance staff.
  • Manage QISBC compliance for assigned datacenters (as applicable).
  • Be the first contact point for site staff from these assigned datacenters for any QISBC compliance needs.
  • Manages compliance effort with respect to new and existing local/federal/regulatory requirements and is responsible for escalations and expectations on any regulatory inspections/notices.
  • Overall ownership of ensuring implementation and maintenance of Safety requirements (e.g. site inspections, PPE requirements, risk assessments, hazardous chemical inventory).
  • Maintains oversight of Business Continuity related requirements as defined by the Global BCPO (Business Continuity Program Office) and the Global Operations Compliance function. (2nd line).
  • Oversees and owns any Environmental compliance requirements including but not limited to – review of relevant EHS permits, compliance to existing permits and plans (e.g. Air, Spill Prevention, Chemical Reporting, etc.).
  • Provides compliance SME guidance on customer RFI/RFP/Pre-Sales/Audit/Questionnaire for sites assigned.
  • Overall management of new site or site expansion integration to Equinix QISBC and EHS standards by working with Compliance CoE (2nd line).
  • Steps-in to cover for any 1st line compliance manager resource gaps for sites in scope.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience preferred.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Compliance leadership experience in the data center industry or comparable sector such as IT, telecommunication, construction; or other industrial environments.
  • Experience managing compliance effort for multiple locations/sites.
  • Previous compliance audit experience as an internal/external auditor.
  • Certified lead auditor for any of the standards is a plus.
  • Expertise in EHS and Data Privacy regulatory compliance requirements for sites in scope.
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety policy implementation.
  • Working knowledge of Environment related policy implementation.
  • Knowledge of compliance industry best practices.
  • Working knowledge of certification such as ISO27001, ISO45001, ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO22301, SSAE18 SOC1 or SOC2 is a plus.
  • Leadership skills and prior experience of managing a team.
  • Excellent senior management communication skills.
  • Experience working with various cross-functional teams
