Job Summary:
Part of a wider Global Technical Assistance department, this role will have responsibility to operate, monitor and support Equinix networks across EMEA/APAC/AMER regions.
Performing 2nd and 3rd level troubleshooting to resolve system & network performance related issues, whilst driving continuous service improvements and working closely with the Service Delivery Team to ensure an outstanding service to all partners.
To support the 24 hour nature of the business, this position will participate in an on-call rotation and although predominantly office based there are times when you will be required to work in our datacenters.
Responsibilities:
Drive incident and problem to root cause, document, follow up and track on remedial/preventive actions
Interface between Network Engineering departments and SMC
Drive toolbox improvement and new features' request.
Reviews the metrics and identifies opportunities to improve the efficiency of the Network Engineering departments
Monitor and review network performance, reliability and security.
Troubleshooting of Network and Server and Service issues, Supporting SMC – Service Engineering team and Customers.
Identify operational issues (performance, reliability and security) and suggest solutions
Working in a distributed EMEA Network operations support team.
Schedule network maintenances and upgrades when appropriate.
The role is typical in office environment but requires sometimes to work in our data centers.
This position will participate in on call rotation to support network incident resolution.
Perform on-call support
May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or work related discipline
3-5 years of experience in the field of networking and server engineering
Deep understanding Open Stack technology and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) from practical work experience
Knowledge of Linux (Red Hat, Ubuntu and KVM), Cisco (IOS, IOS XR and Nexus)
Network and Server monitoring skillset (Zabbix, Nagios…)
Deep knowledge of packet based networks, routing, redundancy and transport protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VRF and VXLAN) on several network vendor
Clear understanding of Container technology’s (Docker)
In depth experience in Private (OpenStack based) and Public Cloud (AWS/Azure or similar)
Experience with Cloud networking especially related to OpenStack deployments.
Familiar with VPP/FD.io, VxLAN and EVPN similar networking tools
Should have extensive understanding of Cloud Deployment Scenarios e.g. NFV stack or BareMetal deployments (IaaS/Ironic) etc.
Script programming languages (python, bash…)
Must be able to lead multiple projects concurrently and work under deadlines on high-demand environment.
Project planning and management skills, including ability to identify and assess risks
Flexibility, able to work people cross borders and functions.
Fluent in English in speaking and writing is required
