Job Summary

Builds, mentors and leads a team of product marketing managers to achieve the goals of the organization.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Provides leadership and direction to a team of product marketing managers/senior managers
  • Will likely lead a larger team or multiple teams focused on execution of area or sub-function plans
  • Accountable for the performance and results of direct reports and maybe a larger or multiple teams, perhaps global
  • Succession planning recommendations and contributing to and driving the people development strategy
  • Performance management of team members, including disciplinary actions and hire/fire decisions/ recommendations
  • GPS process including assessments and Total Rewards allocations of direct reports and reviewing and approving manager recommendations
  • Talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans ·
  • Models the Equinix Culture and Values Product Interlock
  • Coordinates with Product leadership to ensure Product Marketing is effectively messaging the product's value to customers Roadmap Vision, Detail and Portfolio Marketing
  • Coordinates with Business Development, Channel, Partner Marketing, and Sales to promote their product/product line within the context of the broader product portfolio
  • Ensures broad alignment and understanding of product vision and roadmap among key stakeholders Product GTM and Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Proactively engages with Director and VP level stakeholders to drive alignment on product marketing strategies to achieve product commercialization objectives Product Positioning and Messaging Development
  • Mentors their team in developing product positioning and messaging that resonates with customers Evangelizes the portfolio and positions their products/product lines within it Competitive Analysis
  • Establishes a competitive intelligence program including collection, dissemination of direct and indirect competitors (and technologies.)
  • Ensures sales facing teams know how to position against the next best alternative
  • Benchmarks operational, pricing, and customer experience of competitors Technical Positioning and Proof Points for Value Prop
  • Manages market research, understands customer needs, relative quantitative and qualitative technical advantage of competitors and substitutes for the portfolio Partner GTM Strategy
  • Develops innovative approaches to scale our reach through partners Product Content and Collateral Creation
  • Translates concepts from senior leadership into compelling content, assets and effective enablement Sales activation and enablement
  • Coordinates with Product Management and Sales Enablement to support an effective selling process including the creation of sales tools and training
  • Determines optimal route to market (direct, indirect, online) with cross functional teams

Product Commercialization Governance

  • Reviews portfolio performance against forecast and broader market trends
  • Identifies root cause for over/under performance and recommends how to capitalize on success or address issues Product/Domain Expertise
  • Is sought out for advice as a product/buyer/market expert Resource and Budget Management · Ensures resource allocations based on Org priorities
  • Works closely with cross functional Leads & Project Managers to track resource allocation and utilization for portfolio projects
  • Identifies potential budget shortfalls and escalate proactively
  • Manages and/or escalates issues, as needed
  • Provides input to the annual budget planning process relating to project/support/SW maintenance/Renewals/purchases/etc. for his/her areas of responsibility
  • Reviews and optimizes budget allocation Process/Policies/Standards
  • Ensures departmental process/policies/standards are aligned with Marketing priorities
  • Defines process goals and measurement standards to ensure compliance Optimizes processes to ensure continuous process improvement to drive process quality and productivity
  • Ensures consistency and efficiencies across standards and policies Functional Knowledge · Requires broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles within own job family Requires extensive knowledge of multiple job families Business Expertise
  • Applies broad industry and commercial awareness to drive financial and operational performance across organization sub-functions Leadership

Qualifications

  • 20+ years experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
