Job Summary: Equinix is seeking an experienced, articulate team player for the Global Network Planning Function to ensure our network continues to scale to meet the demands of our customers. Currently spanning more than 200 IBX’s on five continents with a breadth of network services including our global Cloud Connectivity fabric, we are constantly deploying new footprints, expanding existing ones and introducing new services.
You would be part of the Global Network Operations team which is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, delivery and day to day services of all interconnection products & services. The team works closely with the Global IBX teams, the Global Operations team and the Product organizations. Driving for excellence, global standardization, scalability and continuously improving customer satisfaction.
The Planning team delivers the data, intelligence and process which supports a world-class network deployment function. This directly improves our ability to scale our network services to keep up with customer demand in a cost effective and just-in-time manner. The Planning engineers work with Design, Product and Implementation to identify what to deploy, when and where, providing the necessary costing and project specific designs to allow projects to be initialed.
Working with colleagues, use existing tools and processes to track capacity across all platforms globally and identify necessary capacity additions, initiating capacity add projects in a timely manner to ensure we never run out of capacity.
Work with the Implementation and Design teams to maintain knowledge of platform design and scaling policies.
Make suggestions and direct improvements to our tooling and process including automating as much standard capacity management as possible.
Use data to suggest improvements in what and how we deploy platforms.
Work with the Product team to identify required platforms needed for new IBX deployments globally.
Provide Product with design and costing information relating to new deployments and provide general platform, capacity and technology advice and information.
Use standard designs provided by Implementation and maintain tooling which allows automated business case creation using those designs. Identify where non-standard design elements are needed and work with the Implementation team to generate non-standard design elements.
Audit and analyze data provided as part of M&A due diligence
Work with the business to identify work needed to implement our standard platforms in the acquired company and the necessary work needed to migrate or integrate acquired platforms.
Identify risks associated with the acquisition.
Work with the Implementation and Project teams to identify process and timeline of works.
Roadmap & Cost Forecasting
Assist with the creation of a roadmap for all platforms including all expected in-service upgrades and future end of life upgrades and migrations.
Assist with the maintenance of costing information and the creation of annual budget
5+ years experience
Demonstrated direct experience in service provider network
Network knowledge equivalent to at least CCNP level.
Good verbal communication skills and collaborative attitude
Works in a proactive manner and takes ownership of objectives
Good written presentation and communication skills
Very comfortable working with commercial details
Growth mindset and a strong desire to learn and grow
