Job Summary: The Global Equinix Operations Center (EOC) is a 24/7/365 environment responsible for infrastructure (BMS) alarm monitoring and security monitoring and support. The EOC is also responsible for Data Center Incident Management communications for internal and external customers. The Senior EOC Facilities Engineer will be able to support the above functions, while developing the ability to provide subject matter expertise (SME) to other EOC personnel and share knowledge of critical IBX infrastructure with the team as required. This position will be responsible for responding to on-call requests outside of normal business hours.
Responsibilities
Develop a strong understanding of Equinix’s processes, policies, service offerings and products
Serve as a senior technical mentor to the team regarding data center mechanical and electrical infrastructure
Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support regarding (BMS) Building Management System alarms presented to the EOC via various monitoring platforms
Review and create Incident Notifications and Post Incident Report documentation to ensure technical accuracy
Function as the EOC Bridge Lead on all Operations Bridge calls
Work cross functionally with the Building Operations Center (BOC) Team to monitor and investigate any DCIM platform/alarming discrepancies and coordinate between the BOC and Site Operations team to remediate any nuisance or cycling alarms
Work cross functionally with IBX Ops to ensure all BMS alarms are accurate and are being responded to in a timely manner
Perform remote support for the (CMR) Critical Maintenance Requests approval process
Perform post incident problem management reviews and recommend proactive mitigation procedures to prevent reoccurrence in other locations
Review any Service Management Center (SMC) related incidents that may also impact Data Center infrastructure to monitor and respond appropriately
Escalate trouble cases and emergencies as needed to lead and/or management personnel
Qualifications
Minimum of 5-6 years as a data center facilities engineer or equivalent critical facilities work experience
In-depth knowledge of MEP infrastructure maintenance procedures, troubleshooting methods and topologies
Experienced with operating and troubleshooting:
Electrical power systems – AC and DC
HVAC, CRAC, CRAH, chiller, etc. systems
Experienced with monitoring, configuring and troubleshooting BMS/BCM alarm systems
Excellent customer service skills for internal and external customers including incident management communication
Ability to make clear timely decisions in critical situations that impact customers
Familiar with common applications needed to perform daily tasks, including MS Office, CMMS, CRMs, productivity software, and view/read AutoCAD and similar diagrams
Experience working alignment with all relevant safety measures
Excellent problem solving and teamwork skills
The EOC team is a 24/7/365 environment. Candidates will need flexibility to support outside of standard working hours
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.
