Equinix is the world’s digital infrastructure company, operating 210 data centers across the globe and providing interconnections to all the key clouds and networks. Businesses need one place to simplify and bring together fragmented, complex infrastructure that spans private and public cloud environments. With Equinix Metal, customers can rapidly deploy automated single-tenant infrastructure and interact with 1,800+ networks and 2,900+ cloud and service providers. Our global platform allows customers to place infrastructure wherever they need it and connect it to everything they need to succeed.
At Equinix, we help the world’s digital leaders scale with agility, speed the launch of digital services, deliver world-class experiences, and transform people’s lives. Our culture is based on collaboration and the growth and development of our teams.
We hire hardworking people who thrive on solving challenging problems and give them opportunities to hone new skills, and try new approaches, as we grow our product portfolio with new software and network architecture solutions. We embrace diversity in thought and contribution and are committed to providing an equitable work environment that is foundational to our core values as a company and is vital to our success.
Job Summary: As Director, Product Growth Engineering, you will serve in a critical role as a principal level individual contributor, a key domain expert and thought leader, and as the practice of product led growth (PLG) expands and gains traction across the digital portfolio, you will have the opportunity to showcase your leadership skills by building a team that specializes in identifying and implementing opportunities for driving growth across our platform.
While currently focused on Equinix Metal, we are interested in applying PLG strategies across Equinix’s entire digital services portfolio (Equinix Fabric, Network Edge, Equinix Connect, Metro Connect, and Precision Time). As Director, Product Growth Engineering you will play a key role in this evolution and expansion.
Growth and impact are key to this role. Revenue, consumption, and user growth will all be clearly aligned metrics against which you and your team will be measured… . You’ll also need to recruit, coach, and develop a team that is creative, empathetic, flexible, and results-oriented and that can further the cause of driving a data driven product mindset throughout the company and that can help identify new product led growth opportunities and then ensure that those opportunities are fully explored and – when viable - implemented, tracked, and enhanced.
This role reports to the Head of Product for Equinix Metal.
Determine what we build... by playing quarterback for empowered product teams focused on delivering the products and capabilities that will drive product led growth for Equinix's digital products. Things like: better user profile and project profile capabilities, system and product telemetry capture and analysis, cross functional product bundling, in-product learning and value discovery, and automated identification of "next best action" opportunities for users within the product.
Understand and guide our business... by continuously seeking knowledge about other functions, our customer engagements (both the successes and the failures), and the unique and ever changing market landscape in which we operate. You'll use that knowledge to identify critical business, process, operational, and strategic opportunities, and it will also help you play your primary role on the Product Team of validating what are and are not viable and value driving solutions to our biggest challenges.
Removing barriers across functional teams... by serving as an evangelist and spokesperson for the value of product led growth concepts, and working with other Product teams (Product managers, Engineering, Product Design, Marketing), as well as Customer Success and Sales to align the entire organization around the desire to realize that value.
Providing appropriate strategic direction...by researching and understanding leading thinking and best practices in this emerging discipline and then understanding and prioritizing how those strategies can most effectively and efficiently be applied at Equinix.
Integrating key tooling...by developing an understanding of the required analytics and product related capabilities necessary to accomplish both the short, medium, and long term vision and goals, and then ensuring that the corresponding systems, tools, and processes are understood and implemented. Critically, the ability to directly measure and attribute the impact of new capabilities and/or practices within the product or the company’s go to market / customer services motions will be required in order to properly build this practice at Equinix.
This is an entrepreneurial role that requires strategic, analytical, and creative skills; a deep understanding of and passion for the emerging domain and practice of “product led growth”, especially within enterprise / B2B oriented technology platforms is a must. Additionally, given that this role is an emerging practice at Equinix, the role will require extreme comfort navigating complex and evolving organizational boundaries, building alignment and support across multiple teams over which you’ll have little or no authority. Instead, you’ll be expected to evangelize and convince others of the value inherent in the models and systems for which you’ll advocate using data and clear business logic. You have fully embraced the concepts of empowered product teams and the product manager’s role within that team structure, sourcing ideas and solutions to challenging problems from a myriad of different sources, and then efficiently exploring which of those ideas should be pursued alongside key members of your product team.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate at all levels, and switch gears quickly - helping to set the objectives and discipline roadmap at a leadership level, shift into execution mode when opportunities are identified, and then prepare to recruit for team growth and lead that growing team as the product area gains traction and drives impact. You should apply to this role if you are:
A natural public speaker and community builder.
An attentive listener that can identify opportunities, and lead teams towards aligned action.
A lover of (and expert within) the field of data and analytics and their actual application to real business challenges
An experienced project manager, able to organize work streams and enable others to thrive
An experienced product manager, able to engage with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs, business challenges, and triggers to effectively derisk the investments the company chooses to make
A facile and proactive communicator across various mediums.
A passionate technologist looking to make a meaningfully positive impact on a large enterprise
Driven, with a strong sense of ownership and an entrepreneurial spirit
20+ years experience preferred
Bachelor's degree desired
Critical Success Factors:
Ability to navigate complexity, ambiguity
Possess endless curiosity
We offer Medical, TeleMedicine, Dental, Vision, Life and AD&D insurance, 401K, Leave of absence & disability benefits, paid time off & holidays and more.
In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for Colorado for this role is $153K – $214K per year with 30% bonus target.
