Within Equinix, the Transformation Office is the force driving large-scale, complex transformation initiatives for the business – all while balancing our need for innovation, customer centricity and operational efficiencies. The Transformation Office’s leadership in executing key initiatives helps advance our corporate objectives and deliver on our multi-year transformational priorities.
We’re recruiting for an experienced communications leader to serve as the Director of Transformation Communications. This role will create and execute a proactive communications program to advance the company’s priorities and enable change and transformation to be readily embraced across the entire company.
The communications director will lead all aspects of communications for the Chief Transformation Officer and support the transformation team in areas including executive and employee communications, content development, departmental communications needs, thought leadership, and social media for the Transformation Officer. You will be responsible for delivering compelling communication programs and content that leads to measurable employee and stakeholder engagement, while at the same time partnering with others – across the broader communications team, regions, and the business to tell our story internally and externally.
This is a new position and a terrific opportunity for a creative leader and strong writer who enjoys partnering directly with senior executives and cross-functional stakeholders on a variety of strategic initiatives at the same time. The role reports to the Senior Director of Executive and Internal Communications and will serve on the extended communications leadership team.
Responsibilities
Proactively develop and execute the holistic communications strategy for the Transformation Office – balancing internal and external audiences and serving both the department and corporation’s needs
Hands-on in content development blending both the head and the heart to articulate the priorities and progress of the Transformation Office and why it matters to our company and our customers
Build and maintain relationships with members of the executive leadership team and cross-functional stakeholders to inform Transformation communications strategy and content. Part of this includes partnering closely with the Transformation team and across PR, AR, internal, executive, regional, and functional communication leads to drive a holistic and sustained communications program
Drive proactive internal and external engagements that expand the reach of the Chief Transformation officer’s network and effectiveness in supporting business objectives
Elevate the voice of the Chief Transformation Officer and her leadership team on specific topics aligned with Equinix strategy, including innovation, sustainability, diversity & company culture
Implement processes that drive long-term planning, high-quality content gathering, and rigorous execution across all aspects of Transformation communications
Ability to reach different audiences with tailored messages, leveraging multiple channels/executives and functional/team meetings and town halls, written/social channels, and other means to engage employees
Lead the creation of social media content and partner with the social media team to drive engagement across priority audiences and topics
Qualifications
At least 15 years of communications experience, with track record of overseeing communications programs in leadership roles
Significant executive, internal, and/or transformational communications experience, ideally for a Fortune 500 company
A gifted storyteller and writer who can embody the voice and perspective of others while continuing to motivate the audience to embrace change; experience in creating executive content, messaging, and talking points
Ability to weave in emotion, passion, authenticity, and personal connection into the content they create
Strategic thinker with strong executive presence and the ability to inspire trust and confidence
Ability to bring innovative thinking, creative ideas, diverse perspectives, global and regional insights, and higher-level awareness into everything that is created
Superior judgement, with the ability to balance short and long-term priorities in a disciplined manner
Uncanny ability to develop and leverage strong partnerships across an organization, harmonize various perspectives/objectives, provide sound counsel, prioritize, and deliver positive outcomes for all involved
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment while calmly adapting and embracing change as needed
Bachelor's degree preferred
