About the Role
The global legal team is on a transformational journey to meet our future needs as the world’s digital infrastructure company. Reporting to the VP, Global Legal Operations and working alongside members of the Global Legal Operations team in our Redwood City headquarters, the Director, Legal Operations, Technology & Analytics will play a key and highly active role in leading and shaping this transformation. The Director, Legal Operations, Technology and Analytics will be a self-starter with outstanding decision-making and problem-solving skills, demonstrate professionalism in all interactions, and be proactive, resourceful, and skilled at developing and implementing creative solutions to business challenges. We are seeking a bright, enthusiastic, & results-oriented professional with effective execution skills, demonstrated knowledge of legal technology, & proven experience managing multiple projects to completion.
Areas of Accountability
Lead the team responsible for the duties below, promoting a culture of employee engagement, development, innovation, collaboration, & high performance.
IT Portfolio Management
Partner with IT and business stakeholders to develop and maintain a comprehensive technology roadmap based on business direction and priorities that optimizes information flow and minimizes data silos
Manage the strategic direction (including the digital transformation strategy), risks/escalations, and health of the Legal IT portfolio
Select, implement and integrate new Legal solutions and technologies, including eBilling, Matter Management, Document Management, Contract Management, Workflow and Ticketing, and Reporting solutions
Review manual operations with an eye toward optimization and automation
Manage cross-functional process and system integration impacts
Manage budgets for technology projects and initiatives
Institute KPI’s with relevant metrics to monitor the efficacy of the portfolio and drive continuous improvement
Drive regular interactions with executive sponsors to inform and maintain a shared vision for outcomes
Partner with IT to develop solutions and delivery approach and secure resources and funding as needed
Admin and End User Support
Provide support for legal technology end users – first contact through resolution - and enable technology solutions to perform as expected.
Perform user admin and operational functions for legal technology solutions – e.g., manage template library for CLM, ensure user accounts have the right permissions. . .
Manage a ticket queue – acknowledge tickets, communicate with end users, triage and troubleshoot issues, update and resolve tickets
Metrics and Analytics
Understand business needs and objectives for the legal department
Develop strategies for effective data analysis and reporting
Define department-wide metrics and relevant data sources
Implement analytics solutions
Leverage insights from data exploration to build visualizations
Perform periodic audits of data within business systems/platforms
Make recommendations of what data should be explored
Lead follow-up checks to ensure data quality and accuracy
Design processes and systems to transform raw data into actionable business insights
Apply industry knowledge to interpret data and improve performance
Keep abreast of industry news and trends
Proven track record of selecting, implementing, and managing legal technology solutions such as eBilling, Matter Management, Document Management, and Contracts Management, with at least 7 years of experience
Comprehensive understanding of budgeting and resource planning
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
Proven leadership effectiveness in a fast-paced, highly matrixed, cross-functional, and global environment
Strong interpersonal, teaming and decision-making skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities in a results-oriented manner, shifting easily between strategic and tactical
Proficiency with Salesforce, Onit, iManage, and Agile methodology a plus
Hands on experience with Tableau preferred
Project management qualifications preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
