Job Summary: The Product Software Engineering team at Equinix builds next-generation software products and architecture for our Equinix software platform and services offerings.
As Director of DevOps Platform Engineering team you will be leading the DevOps platform engineering and developer experience including vision, strategy and execution. In this role you will be leading the CI/CD team, hybrid cloud (AWS, Equinix Metal) engineering team and other teams working on foundational services like API gateway, Container orchestration (Kubernetes), telemetry and Authentication tools with primary objective of providing “Infrastructure as Code” to the development engineering teams to improve developer autonomy and self-service. This role also ensures all our customer facing software and products provide reliable, secure, and highly scalable SaaS experience for our customers and partners.
Lead the team responsible for delivering platform, applications and infrastructure that enables Equinix’s Engineering teams to configure, operate and monitor their services
Foster the culture of automation, developer self-service and building highly available platforms and systems
Manage a highly skilled engineering teams working across US, Poland and Singapore
Build & improve the software deployment platform, data driven automated analysis and service monitoring
Work with Equinix engineering teams, architects, product management, user experience team to understand and support Equinix business vision and direction
Champion cloud operation and operational excellence
Foster an atmosphere of accountability and continuous improvement, serving as a coach, mentor and technical advisor.
Responsible for attracting, retaining, engaging, and developing team of highly skilled engineers
Drive roadmap creation and execution
Define OKRs for the team and continually measure against the target
Ability to communicate, discuss, and champion reliability efforts
Minimum of 6+ years’ experience managing teams of engineers and managers
Bachelor's in Engineering preferred
Experience with architectural patterns of large, high-scale distributed applications on hybrid cloud
Experience in running hybrid cloud infrastructure as code using software like Terraform and provisioning tools like Ansible
Experience with modern SRE/DevOps practices and culture
Experience leading business critical systems with availability goal of 99.9
Experience managing production Kubernetes environments at scale
Experience in running systems hosted in AWS public cloud in scale. Experience with Equinix Metal is added advantage
Experience in managing API gateways, identity and access management applications
Experience in managing monitoring and telemetry for distributed systems in scale
Experience setting up and building continuous integration and deployment solutions like Jenkins, GitActions, GitOps, Spinnaker, etc.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multiple business and technical teams
Good networking knowledge is an added advantage
Experience in cloud FinOps is an added advantage
Previously managed team of engineers and have been responsible for their career growth.
Ability to attract, develop, and keep high-quality multi-disciplinary teams

For NYC residents: In accordance with NYC Pay Transparency Law (https://legistar.council.nyc.gov/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=3713951&GUID=E7B03ABA-8F42-4341-A0D2-50E2F95320CD&Options=Advanced&Search= ) the salary range for this role is $189,000 – $341,000 per year with 30% bonus target.
For CO residents: In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for this role is $175,000 – $245,000 per year with 30% bonus target.
