Job Summary: Provide our Critical Facility Operations teams with oversight and support for the growing number of global Data Center locations.  The Regional Operations Engineering (ROE) team provides subject matter expertise to our Site Operations teams.  The support provided you will provide has  a direct impact related to systems operations and efficiency, minimum training standards, vendor support, incident management including Root Cause Analysis and customer escalations of a technical nature.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Review design packages and technical deliverables for engineering initiatives and provide guidance to ensure all projects are meeting minimum Equinix Global Design Standards.

System Operation and Work Practices

  • Expert operating knowledge of engineering systems to include advanced diagnostics and repairs.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of Equinix processes and procedures and industry standards to resolve routine and  non-routine issues.

  • Utilizes safe working practices at an expert level (e.g. can apply procedure for lockout/tag out, can explain MSDS, etc.)

  • Works with the site engineering teams to resolve power and/or cooling limitations and provide recommendations to optimize system performance.

Training

  • Collaborates with the Global Operations Training team to identify and develop training programs for applicable critical systems.

  • Maintains relevant industry knowledge with systems, vendor training, participation in industry groups.


Contract Administration

  • Development of Framework Agreements, working with Legal, to include SLA’s at Global and Regional levels for implementation.

  • Provide support for the PM Program in accordance with approved Job Plans.

Policy & Procedure Development and Adherence

  • Contributes to creating and maintaining best in class policies and procedures.

  • Participates in review of policy and procedure documents.

  • Assures adherence to developed standards and policy through review of documentation, participation in commissioning activities, design summits and Data Center physicals.


Incident Support and Problem Management

  • Support implementation and refresher training (incl. war games) with local Critical Facilities Operations Team of Global Incident Management Process.

  • Provide technical support and ensure adherence to process, protocol and communication for the quick recovery of critical engineering systems to maintain SLA.

  • Perform/review root cause analysis, quality of Internal Incident Reports and when requested by customer/s who are affected following an incident, review customer facing report.

  • Perform analysis of incidents and equipment failures to identify potential trends, lessons learned and areas for improvement.

  • Operations Eng lead process for Incident Management as Bridge Lead.

Qualifications

  • Focus on customer service and stakeholder management.

  • Expert operating knowledge of engineering systems to include advanced diagnostics and repairs.

  • Ability to apply knowledge of Equinix processes and procedures and industry standards resolve issues.

  • Experience facilitating training programs.

  • Expert level system knowledge with most common mechanical systems.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 7+ years of mechanical system design, operations, maintenance and project planning with an emphasis on data center or mission critical project delivery.

Travel requirement: This will require on-site travel to our facilities across the Americas region.  Approximately 20%

For CO residents: In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for this role is $89K – $124K per year with 20% bonus target.
