About the role:

The Customer Operations Engineer is required to work within our Data Centre’s (IBX) as part of a rotating shift team. They are tasked with providing our customers with the highest standards of technical service as required. Customer Operations are also responsible for providing first level support for facility alarms and issues and in performing housekeeping duties to ensure that the

Data Centre is maintained in first class condition at all times. After receiving orientation and onboarding training you will become a valued member of the Equinix team and will become part of a shift roster to ensure the customer success at all times.

Applicants may come from a variety of backgrounds but ideally with a passion, education or work experience within the IT industry. The Customer Operations team play a key role in the success of our daily operations and offers a great work/life balance due to the shift patterns and are entitled 5 weeks annual leave.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Smart Hands - Accurate completion of Smart Hands in the required time frame
  • Installs ladder racks and fiber raceways

  • Builds/Installs cages

  • Installs cable management/support systems to include vertical wire managers, horizontal wire managers, and patch panels

  • Back-up Tape Change - Accurate completion of tape change in required time frame
  • Providing Sundry items and tools - Accurate completion of sundry items forms
  • IBX Cleanliness - Completion of scheduled checks
  • Cross Connects - Accurate completion of assigned cross connects installations
  • After Hours Facility response - Feedback from Facility team
  • Alarm Response - Review response time to alarms
  • Facility Routine Patrols - Review of Daily Patrol Logs
  • Network Management -  Provide network provisioning and support to the core, IT, wireless and facility networks including third party management and cabling infrastructure
