Contracts Specialist - 12 month fixed term contract

The Contracts Specialist will be primarily responsible for supporting the Equinix EMEA business, and particularly the EMEA Commercial Transactions legal team, to prepare and negotiate customer contracts, mainly Service Orders, advise on associated contractual issues affecting customers and provide general support for customer contracting administration in EMEA. The Contract Specialist will work closely with Equinix's current contract management system (CMS).

Principal Job Responsibilities :

Negotiation

  • Conducts initial or limited contract review on basic or simple contracts, provides advice on or research and interpretation of customer contract revisions for Contracts Manager, Legal Counsel or other members of One Legal; may be able to resolve much of the "non standard" language requests for customer revisions; may be requested to comprise contract review team for marketing department, IBX Operations or due diligence projects
  • Reviews and processes Orders (e.g., manual orders, order amendments, replacement orders) that are not handled by Global Legal Solutions
  • Drafts, reviews and revises Non-Disclosure, Novation, and other commercial agreements that are not handled by Global Legal Solutions
  • Collaborates with Sales, Sales Operations and Sales Engineers or Customer Service Managers on customer agreements;
  • Conducts additional contract research and interpretation, and, together with other Contract Team Members research findings, provides guidance on day-to-day issues, incl. transactional and non-transactional matters;
  • Acts as primary or initial resource to Bid Management team on RFQs, RFPs and RFIs, and other related bids pursued by the regional sales teams and provides timely responses from legal department in conjunction or in collaboration with the Contract Managers

Customer Lifecycle Management Tasks

  • Works within the CMS to assure that agreement and case requests are being accepted within the envelope of the regional teams’ service level objectives (SLO);

Tracking

  • Actively checks and monitors the general contract queue in the CMS for agreement and case requests and, if necessary, acts as the “queue manager” and delegates requests for legal assistance to the regional team in accordance with the then current Work Allocation Model;

  • Complies and helps enforce established contract processes;

  • Directs Sales and Sales Support to self-service tools and resources;

Customer Contracts Administration

  • Must be proficient at and provide general administrative support for all online or AI systems used by the regional Contracts team, incl. the current CMS (Apttus), SFDC, etc.

  • Draft or helps draft and transmit legal notices or correspondence to customers

  • Primary contact for and resource to Equinix business teams on basic research concerning use of customer names or logos and on special projects involving research surrounding specific terms and conditions in customer contracts;
  • Supports occasional Audit and Reconciliation projects for Revenue Operations, IBX Operations and other departments and must prepare a brief summary of work and results for use by the Standards and Templates team;

Qualification & Experience :

  • 0-3 years’ work experience in a Contracts or Legal department, as well as being a self-starter and a team player;

  • Paralegal certificate and/or a bachelors/college law degree is strongly preferred;

  • Ability to research and coordinate various business-related contract issues, and think through issues and communicate clearly;
  • Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, work independently and multi-task; 
  • Ability to work with tight deadlines;
  • Exercises skills of good judgement in identifying issues that require escalation;
  • Good people skills to work closely with individuals at all levels and in all areas of the organization, including external customers in a fast-paced environment;
  • Supporting a Sales team in the past is strongly preferred;
  • Good organizational skills, and a very strong attention to detail is required, as is strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce.com and other CRM or database management);
  • English language, and other European languages highly beneficial, because we are looking for somebody that loves to work internationally.
