Job Summary

This position sits within the Equinix Global Design and Construction team (over 250 no. people) who deliver over 70 no. projects globally per year (in excess $3Bn capex).

The Campus Project Manager role is vital for the development and prosperity of our new campus in Lelystad, the Netherlands. And will involve overseeing and managing various aspects of data centre project cycle from:

  • Inception: Initial stages of the project, gaining stakeholder alignment, approval, and advance funding for design and preconstruction activities

  • Construction: Overseeing the completion of the design and preconstruction process, ensuring high levels of quality and safety are achieved

  • Testing & Acceptance: Plan and execute a rigorous testing program to ensure the facility functions as designed and meets the expectations of Operations and customers

  • Transition: Facilitate the hand-off of the project to site operations, ensuring all customer requirements are accommodated

Site based, directs and oversees day to day activities of site progress, risks, issues and reports to the Construction Director on a weekly cadence across all elements of the project.  Makes strong tactical decisions to resolve project issues. Manages project costs, methods, and project schedules alongside the Health & Safety, Design, Commercial, Commissioning and Procurement Teams.

Overview

Responsible in all aspects of data centre design & construction for the Lelystad Campus from project inception, through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and hand-over of an operating facility, that could include ground up construction, fit-outs, remodels, etc.

The Campus Project Manager will be responsible for one or more projects or multiple deliverables within the Lelystad Campus and will direct all partners, internal (Design, Procurement, Operations, Security and IT/Network), as well as external vendors comprising of contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers, etc.

Responsible for driving a safe, quality first culture, ensuring that all applicable codes, standards, and good construction practices are followed.

Ensuring that internal controls are adhered to at each step of the process through effective contract administration including generation, review, management, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation.

Responsibilities

Management

  • Provides guidance to the Campus Project Construction Team and internal stakeholders who are driving the delivery to day-to-day Construction projects

  • Plans, manages and monitors deliverables for immediate team members, Operations and Customers/ end users

Project Management

  • Manages one or more construction projects or multiple deliverables within the Lelystad Campus

  • Leads by example on safety, standards, and culture

  • Manages and monitors project progress, quality and compliance with building regulations

  • Ensuring projects are meeting or exceeding company expectations

  • Overview and management of project risk registers

Vendor Relations

  • Directs external vendors per project comprising general contractors, design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers etc

  • Contributes to establishing and maintaining high value relationships

Training Programs

  • Supports in identifying and developing training programs

  • Supports cross-functional training

Contract Administration

  • Manages contract administration procedures including generation, review, and monitoring of prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other pertinent documents and documentation

  • Liaising with local authorities and relevant State agencies and departments

Leadership

  • Liaising with local authorities and relevant State agencies and departments

Policy & Procedure Development

  • Manages maintaining best in class policies and procedures

  • Manages project closure, handover and ensures lessons learnt processes are established and implemented

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in construction, construction project management and /or engineering or with equivalent experience

  • Site based in Lelystad

  • Proven experience in project and construction management of critical Infrastructure for Datacentres at owner and / or end-user organisations

  • Ability and willingness to travel

  • Customer focused, Self-motivated and flexible

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant statutory regulations and industry best practices

  • Experience in construction procurement methodologies

  • Experience in the adoption of off-site manufacturing methods in construction

  • Proficiency in Primavera, Procore, Smartsheets, MS Office, including MS Project, Excel, and Visio is desirable

  • English language is a must, Dutch language is highly preferred
