Job Summary

As a Senior Product Manager with Equinix, you will be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of colocation (space and power) specific products and developing product enhancements to meet the demand of existing and targeted customers. This position is responsible for the development of strategies and activities to establish and enhance product placement, pricing, delivery, and support to grow the colocation business at Equinix which enables the scaling of Interconnection and the Internet infrastructure worldwide.  In order to be successful in this role, you must have a comprehensive understanding of the various business models that enable the Internet and its architecture.

The Senior Product Manager must be an effective leader and communicator and will work cross-functionally with Equinix’s sales teams, operations, engineering, marketing, customers and more.  They will conceive, propose, and sell new ideas, strategies, and concepts; guide those projects to completion, and take full ownership and responsibility for successful delivery. In this role you will be expected to use your analytical and creative skills. You must be able to work at the strategic level (generating ideas for growth) and at the tactical level with your team (analyzing product performance and solving problems).

The ideal candidate for this role will have experience with general management, product management, colocation and the Internet.   They will have strong judgment, excel at making data-driven decisions and influencing others, have demonstrated ability to be a creative problem solver, and have proven ability to work with and manage high-performance cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Product Management Leadership

  • Be the company domain expert for specific colocation (space and power) products.
  • Develop, manage, and execute on product strategy including a roadmap.  Create a shared vision and clear goals for the product line.
  • Develop business cases, financial models, product requirements, data sheets, and other product-related materials.
  • Define metrics that will be used to inform product success and help drive user experience improvements
  • Manage and influence cross-functional stakeholders to align priorities while balancing the strategic direction setting, go-to-market timelines, and effective expectation setting
  • Analyze and optimize value chain activities; establish and monitor KPIs; implement course corrections as needed
  • Work with Reporting/Analytics teams to define meaningful metrics for gaining insights into user behavior and business impact
  • Track revenues and profitability of products. Identify trends based on data and take action as necessary.
  • Work with product development teams, sales operations, data center operations, and engineering to execute changes.
  • Perform competitive analysis and work with industry analysts to extract trends that provide insight.
  • Manage product development and enhancement projects leading cross-functional teams.
  • Provide direction, consultation, and training to sales team on products and product line.
  • Develop product requirements documents, data sheets and other product-related materials.

Team Leadership

  • Lead the product management function including planning, initiative development, and deployment
  • Be accountable for the performance and results of direct reports, teams, and area of responsibility
  • Define succession plan and people development strategy
  • Effectively lead regular and annual performance management for team and equitably allocate rewards for direct reports
  • Proactively drive talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans
  • Be a model for Equinix Culture and Values
  • Foster and promote high engagement, performance and collaboration while providing strategic direction across several local & remote teams
  • Build and maintain healthy relationships at all levels of the organization - evangelizing the team, aligning on common goals, and creating a shared vision

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a product manager required. 12 - 15+ years’ experience in the colocation or energy sector highly preferred.
  •  Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree of Business Administration preferred
  • Significant experience in presentations to internal and external executives
  • Strategic thinking with a clear understanding of levers that drive modern SAAS based digital experiences
  • Experience managing and working with a global team, which encompasses working in Europe, APAC and AMER time zones
  • Must be comfortable collaborating with engineering on solving problems
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders and bring out the best in the team
  • Have a “get it done” mindset and bring creativity and strategic thought every day
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proven track record of successful project and product implementation.
  • Strong understanding of and ability to implement efficient processes.
  • Demonstrated experience being a collaborative team player.
  • Understanding of datacenter, cloud, network and interconnection products and services will be useful but not required

In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for Colorado for this role is 130K – 160K per year with 25% bonus target.
