Building a purposeful sales career: How Aga Davis inspires sales success

21 years ago, Aga Davis arrived in the UK from a small town in Poland, looking forward to a summer of travel and work experience. But, as she puts it, “The rest is history.” What began as a seasonal adventure turned into a remarkable career journey—one that would take her from teaching fitness classes to leading a high-performing network sales team at Equinix.

A passion for people and progress

Aga’s early career was rooted in fitness instruction and sports. She earned her master’s degree and taught fitness classes while working at the reception of what was once the world’s largest sports club. “I’ve always loved working with people,” she shares. “But I was curious and ambitious. I wanted to try something fresh, learn new things and explore the world of technology.”

That curiosity led her to a sales role within the sports club, where she pitched corporate wellness packages to companies in Canary Wharf. One of her clients, impressed by her ability to rally his entire IT team into the gym, offered her a job in tech sales. “That was my first step into the IT world,” she recalls. “And I haven’t looked back since.”

Climbing the ladder at Equinix

Aga joined Equinix through the Telecity acquisition and began her journey in the UK Field Enterprise team. In 2018, she transitioned to the EMEA Networks team; by 2020, she was promoted to Sales Manager. Today, she serves as Director, Network Sales, leading a team of five talented individuals across EMEA—her “dream team,” as she proudly calls them.

“I’ve always had great people around me who appreciated my work ethic and believed in my growth,” she says. “Stepping into management allowed me to share my experience and grow as a person. I come to work with a big smile on my face.”

Sales with purpose: Supporting the backbone of the business

Aga’s team plays a critical role in supporting network service providers—the very backbone of Equinix’s business. “We adopt a customer-first mindset and consistently deliver results,” she explains. “I’m proud of my team’s dedication and the role we play in driving top-line growth.”

The team’s work not only strengthens customer satisfaction but also reinforces Equinix’s position as a trusted partner in the industry. "It’s about more than just numbers," she adds. "It’s about building relationships, understanding our clients’ needs and being part of something bigger."

A day in the life: Coffee, Charlie and connections

Aga starts her day by spending each morning with her three-year old twin boys, taking a walk with her dog Charlie, and enjoying a strong cup of coffee—nonnegotiable before any conversation. She follows that with a workout or Pilates session before diving into her workday. Evenings are reserved for cooking, unwinding and the occasional Friday drink at the local pub.

What energizes her most at work? “People power,” she says. “I interact with so many amazing individuals every day. I try to be an energy supplier—positive, engaged and always learning.”

Advice for aspiring tech sellers

For those considering a switch to tech sales, Aga’s advice is clear: “Be curious. Always want to learn. Technology is the way forward. Work hard and be ambitious, but stay kind and humble. Hard work always pays off.”

She emphasizes the importance of authenticity in sales: “Be yourself. Be interesting, be interested. And always follow through. If you say you’ll do something, do it.”

No regrets—only growth

Looking back, Aga has no regrets about leaving fitness instruction behind. “Absolutely not,” she says. “I’ve learned so much and met incredible people, and I still get to enjoy fitness as a hobby. It’s the best of both worlds.”
