The Application Portfolio Management (APM) Specialist is responsible for both the functional management and technical configuration of the enterprise application capability within ServiceNow. This role drives visibility, governance, and optimization of the application landscape, ensuring applications align with business capabilities, technology standards, and cost-efficiency goals. The specialist will configure, maintain, and enhance APM modules, while collaborating with stakeholders to enable data-driven decisions on rationalization, modernization, and investments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Application Portfolio Oversight
    • Maintain, configure and continuously improve the ServiceNow APM module to support enterprise-wide application portfolio management.
    • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of portfolio data (including ownership, lifecycle, technical health, cost, and risk attributes).
  • Configuration & Enablement
    • Configure APM-related forms, workflows, and data models in ServiceNow, aligning CSDM and enterprise data standards.
    • Partner with CMDB, ITAM, and SPM teams to ensure APM configuration supports automated data flows and accurate reporting.
    • Build and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reports to deliver actionable insights to business and IT leadership.
  • Governance & Process Enablement
    • Partner with product owners and business leaders to define ownership models, lifecycle policies, and decision criteria for applications.
    • Support governance forums by providing analysis and recommendations on application investments, retirements, or replacements.
    • Support strategic planning, including rationalization, consolidation, cloud migration, and technical debt reduction initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, ITAM/SAM/HAM, Security, Finance, and Business Units to ensure portfolio alignment with enterprise strategy.
    • Serve as subject matter expert on ServiceNow APM and related CSDM constructs.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities to improve portfolio data quality, automation, and integration with other enterprise processes (ITSM, CMDB, SAM, HAM, SPM).
    • Champion best practices in application lifecycle management and portfolio optimization.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
    • 7+ years of experience in IT Portfolio Management, Enterprise Architecture, or related domains.
    • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow APM or similar platforms strongly preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies
    • Strong analytical and data management skills with the ability to transform data into actionable insights.
    • Strong understanding of CSDM and its relationship to APM.
    • Understanding of IT governance frameworks (ITIL, TOGAF, COBIT) and their connection to portfolio management.
    • Knowledge of cloud migration strategies, application rationalization approaches, and cost optimization practices.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at multiple levels of the organization.

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

United States - Dallas Infomart Office DAI : 118,000 - 176,000 USD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
