Job Summary

Architects and executes interaction and visual design, as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, drawing on results from user research, content strategy and workflow analysis. Applies contemporary user experience methodologies to the design and development of engaging user interfaces for websites and applications. UX design provides highly analytical and journey-driven paths to fuel creative UI/visual design for a complete end-user experience. Develops prototypes, mockups, wireframes, task flows and other visuals. Conducts user research and usability testing to measure quality of user's experience when interacting with digital websites or applications.

Responsibilities

User Research and Usability

  • Coordinates user research plans across multiple functional domains of responsibility

  • Coordinates with usability vendors when necessary

  • Determines user research methodologies to optimize data collection

  • Interacts with stakeholders to determine requirements and set expectations

Observes user research sessions

  • Consolidates user research data across multiple functional areas where appropriate

  • Presents results to stakeholders

  • Ensures user research plans and methodologies are rigorous, consistent and thoughtful

Information Architecture

  • Ensures examination and implementation of information architecture structures across multiple sites and/or applications is rigorous, consistent and thoughtful Interaction Design

  • Provides site/application-level creative direction across multiple functional domains of responsibility

  • Presents, defends and articulates design work in design reviews with colleagues and stakeholders

  • Ensures interaction design patterns across multiple sites and/or applications are rigorous, consistent and thoughtful

Researches interaction design trends Visual/UI Design

  • Provides site/application-level creative direction across multiple functional domains of responsibility

  • Presents, defends and articulates design work in design reviews with colleagues and stakeholders

  • Ensures interaction design patterns across multiple sites and/or applications are rigorous, consistent and thoughtful

  • Researches interaction design trends Prototyping

  • Creates and proposes prototyping standards and toolsets

  • Determines need for prototyping efforts, based on functional complexity and requirement specifics

  • Socializes prototypes via design reviews or 1:1 usability sessions UX Strategy/SME Consultation

  • Applies critical thinking to a variety of complex user problems, taking into account user needs, business objectives and technical constraints

  • Evangelizes adoption of UX principles/strategy across Marketing cross-functionally

  • Creates and implements strategies that improve user experience through design

  • Oversees the user experience from onboarding, error correction, and to completion

  • Helps scope UX resources needed People Management

  • Provides leadership and direction to the team, through managers

  • Accountable for the performance and results of direct reports and maybe a larger or multiple teams

Models the Equinix Culture and Values Resource and Budget Management

  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan - that are agreed upon by upper management

  • Works closely across Marketing Project Managers to track resource allocation and utilization for portfolio projects

  • Works closely with Project Managers to track resource allocation and utilization for larger projects

  • Requests approvals for additional expenses outside of approved budget/headcount

  • Communicates budget estimates for cross functional projects/programs, and ensures teams execute assigned projects within approved budgets

  • Manages and/or escalates issues, as needed

  • Provides input to the annual budget planning process relating to project/support/SW maintenance/Renewals/purchases/etc. for his/her areas of responsibility

Responsible for:

  • succession planning

  • performance management of team members, including disciplinary actions and hire/fire decisions/ recommendations

  • GPS process including assessments and Total Rewards allocations of direct reports and reviewing and approving manager recommendations

  • talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans

Process/Policies/Standards

  • Defines and evangelizes processes, policies and standards across all stakeholders

  • Measures performance against process goals

  • Proactively seeks continuous improvement opportunities in process/ policies/ standards

Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience preferred

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:

Canada - Toronto Office TRO : 136,000 - 204,000 CAD / Annual

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location.The pay range shown is based on our compensation structure in place at the time of posting and may be updated periodically based on business needs. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
