Job Summary:  

The Australian Melbourne Campus Senior Manager oversee 4 sites (IBX) which are critical to the operations of our Australian business and also our customers. Performance by advancing our company priorities and maximizing value through effective use of company resources is a must. The Campus Manager sets direction, anticipates change and adapts to complexities to meet company and customer expectations, including financial, service SLAs and the safety of our people.  

 

Our second largest Metro Melbourne in Australia! With potential future builds on the horizon. This is a large responsibility for this management position looking over all of the Campus’s resources (people, finance, budgets). 

 

The ideal candidate will be a value centered individual, passionate about collaborating whilst leading by example. They will create an enjoyable work environment with a deep focus on developing teams to maintain Equinix's standards, all whilst doing everything possible to protect Equinix's customers. 
 

A specific focus for this role is developing a strong leadership team around you who can share and take the lead when required; freeing up the Snr Manager for non-reactive duties.  

 
Key responsibilities: 

  • Plans and delegates effectively to Managers and Supervisors (ME1, ME2, ME4, ME5) 

  • Mentors, trains and empowers leadership team to prioritize workload and manage risks 

  • Manages a team of Data Center leaders responsible for the 24/7 operational oversite and direction of Campus encompassing both technical and engineering disciplines 

  • Communicates importance of working safely, effectively and with high regard to human error avoidance 

  • Manages budgets, and implements resources to complete projects and maintenance within the Data Center Campus 

  • Leads the teams to ensure completion to Equinix's required standards, KPI's and SLA's 

  • Ensures correct processes are followed and all documentation is complete 

  • Collaborates with leaders on broad-scale Regional and Global projects that have an impact on the business, working with cross-functional teams, including Business Partners (Finance, IT, P&L) and general contractors (e.g., looking at large bids and projects with high visibility and greater risk) 

  • Communicates and coordinates activities and on-site staff during complex or severe customer-impacting incidents 

  • Makes recommendations for incident resolution 

  • Provides collaborative relationships with customers, and customer support teams 

  • Display a Customer Centric mindset and ability to handle customer escalations 

  • Leads, manages, recruits, and develops staff across multiple Data Centers 

  • Actively contributes to and is a member of the Australian Operations Leadership Team and Australian Risk Council (ARC). 

 

 

Qualifications, key skills and attributes:

  • 10+ years of experience in Critical Environments  

  • Demonstrated experience in Leadership / Management roles  

  • Diploma/ Degree in Engineering or related industry field or relevant certifications and experience 

  • Deep understanding of Equinix infrastructure or related critical environments 

  • Dedication to delivering a great customer experience 

  • Effective presentation skills  

  • Experienced with budget management (headcount, capital, and expense management) 

  • Deep understanding of design documents, contracts, and technical information 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Overtly collaborative and team-oriented mindset for accomplishing complex goals 

  • High technical knowledge of computer software use (Microsoft applications & Email etc.) 

  • Demonstrated experience managing operational requirements and making targeted recommendations
