Job Summary

We are seeking an intelligent, energetic and highly motivated candidate to fulfill this role- Legal Counsel, Corporate, to join the Real Estate & Infrastructure legal team in Asia Pacific. The successful candidate will work on a broad spectrum of legal and corporate matters, including Design & Construction, Infrastructure support work and other corporate related transactions and matters in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Being a close partner to the business, the successful candidate will be assisting in a broad spectrum of legal matters within Equinix’s business, with a particular focus on supporting Equinix’s Build Bolder strategy and the Design & Construction business stakeholders in the Asia Pacific region

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating construction contracts to ensure Equinix’s interests are protected. Liaising with colleagues globally as well as in the Asia Pacific region on legal issues arising from such contracts

  • Providing pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice and guidance regarding legal issues and risks in construction contracts as well as general corporate contracts, including prosecuting and defending litigation and/or insurance claims if required

  • Advising on legal matters and projects; working closely with senior members of the legal team and other internal stakeholders and providing strategic guidance to the business, especially the Real Estate Team, Procurement Team as well as the Design & Construction Team to support the Company’s activities in the Asia Pacific Region

  • Identifying construction and related contracts that do not comply with Equinix policies, processes, and procedures and escalating issues to stakeholders/approvers and to appropriate party to address non compliance

  • Conducting presentations, training and educating the business team members on legal review processes and procedures, legal documents, applicable laws and negotiation strategies

  • Working with senior members of the legal team in developing templates for various corporate contracts, including procurement contracts and intercompany contracts

  • Functioning as part of the wider global legal team, including engaging with other departments, providing input on corporate issues, undertaking any global projects, initiatives, deals, corporate or other commercial transactions as may arise or be assigned

 

Qualifications

  • Law degree from a recognized university and possesses 12+ years’ post qualification experience; with some experience in a law firm, including Construction, Infrastructure and General Corporate experience in the law firm. Admitted to practice in any commonwealth jurisdiction

  • Prepared to use technology including contracts and documents management systems, matter management system and online corporate secretariat system

  • Articulate, with great communication and drafting skills and highly effective in English. Being effective in the Chinese and Bahasa Indonesian languages would be an advantage as the new hire will be working with Chinese and Bahasa Indonesian speaking stakeholders.

  • Competent, accurate, proactive, resourceful, independent, organized, able to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines, address risk, achieve results, an effective time manager with strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and ability to foster/manage relationships across multiple departments

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and projects simultaneously. Willing to be part of a Legal team supporting a growing global business and therefore, must be willing to be a team player to work on a wide range of corporate related transactions and matters
