Who are we?

Equinix is the world’s digital infrastructure company®, shortening the path to connectivity to enable the innovations that enrich our work, life and planet.

A place where bold ideas are welcomed, human connection is valued, and everyone has the opportunity to shape their future.

A career at Equinix means being at the center of shaping what comes next and amplifying customer value through innovation and impact. You’ll work across teams, influence key decisions, and help shape the path forward. You’ll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you—because when you feel valued, you’re empowered to do your best work.

As the Principal Program Manager for Next-Gen Network Modernization Migration, you will be the primary architect and executor of the customer journey as we transition thousands of customer ports and virtual circuits from legacy hardware to our next-generation networking platform. This is a high-visibility role requiring a unique blend of deep networking knowledge, large-scale cloud migration experience, and the ability to lead by influence across a global, matrixed organization.

You will define the "gold standard" for how our customers experience infrastructure evolution—minimizing friction, ensuring technical parity, and maintaining trust.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Migration Strategy & CX Design

  • Define the Journey: Design the end-to-end customer migration lifecycle, from initial notification and technical validation to cutover and post-migration support.

  • Customer Advocacy: Act as the "Voice of the Customer" within the engineering and networking organizations to ensure technical decisions prioritize service continuity and ease of transition.

  • Risk Orchestration: Identify potential "high-touch" customers and complex topologies, developing bespoke migration paths to prevent churn.

2. Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence

  • Drive via Influence: Lead a cross-functional squad including Network Engineering, Product Management, Customer Engineering, Sales, and Operations without direct reporting lines.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Communicate complex technical roadmaps and migration risks to executive leadership, ensuring alignment on resource allocation and "stop-ship" criteria.

3. Operational Excellence & Execution

  • Scale Management: Develop automated or repeatable frameworks to handle the migration of thousands of virtual circuits and ports across global metros.

  • RCA & Continuous Improvement: Lead "War Room" sessions for migration anomalies and drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to refine the process for subsequent waves.

Qualifications:

Technical Depth

  • Networking Expertise: Deep understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including BGP, VLANs, VXLAN, MPLS, and Virtual Circuits.

  • Platform Familiarity: Experience with SDN (Software Defined Networking) and the transition from hardware-centric to API-driven networking architectures.

Experience

  • Cloud-Scale Background: 10+ years of Program Management experience, with a proven track record of leading large-scale customer migrations at a major Cloud Service Provider (CSP), Hyper-scaler, or Tier-1 Telco.

  • Principal Level Leadership: Experience managing "unplanned" or high-impact technical debt initiatives that require significant roadmap negotiation.

Core Competencies

  • Matrix Leadership: Exceptional ability to drive consensus among engineering teams with competing priorities.

  • Strategic Communication: Ability to translate deep technical infrastructure changes into clear, value-based communications for non-technical customer stakeholders.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in using telemetry and data visualization to track migration progress and identify bottlenecks in real-time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Equinix Fabric or similar interconnection platforms.

  • Prior experience in a Customer Engineering or Solutions Architecture role.

  • Background in managing "Novation" or "Org Merge" complexities during infrastructure transitions.
