What you’ll be doing:
Every day Platform Operations is busy building Equinix Metal’s infrastructure at multiple remote data centers around the world. We enroll, configure and maintain the hardware that makes up Equinix Metal’s interconnected bare metal cloud. We are working with a large number of hardware elements, so creating and documenting efficient, repeatable, automated processes are a must.
As a bare metal specialist, you'll learn how to use our internal staff level tools and become comfortable diagnosing hardware, software, and networking issues. You'll work with our engineering teams to add features that help us deliver outstanding service to our user community.
Under the direction of Platform Operations Management you will be working on:
- Continuously improving the operational readiness of the Equinix Metal platform.
- Develop technical solutions to automate management of the Equinix Metal platform.
- Document new processes for Platform Operations engineers.
- Escalate and track technical requests to the appropriate engineering teams.
- Collaborate with engineering teams as a representative of Platform Operations.
What we’ll expect from you:
- Strong Linux/Unix operator skills.
- Experience building automation tools.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Go.
- Working knowledge of Git (and GitHub) and related workflows.
- Collaborate on projects with peers for large scale firmware and hardware automation.
- Writing vendor specific code to normalize hardware management.
- Building proof of concepts, documenting, and championing them.
- Identifying areas for improvement in existing code
- Upholding engineering best practices
- Superb remote communication on zoom meetings, chat and online documentation.
- A willingness to learn and grow with the Platform Operations team.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

For NYC residents: In accordance with NYC Pay Transparency Law (https://legistar.council.nyc.gov/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=3713951&GUID=E7B03ABA-8F42-4341-A0D2-50E2F95320CD&Options=Advanced&Search= ) the salary range for this role is $98K – $175K per year with 15% bonus target.
For CO residents: In accordance with Colorado State Law (https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/sb19-085) the salary range for this role is $89K– $124K per year with 15% bonus target.
