Job Summary

A senior technical professional responsible for supporting and delivering complex physical security operations within the Data Center environment. The Physical Security Enablement V role applies sound judgment, deep knowledge of security systems, and operational experience to support installations, guard operations, incident response, infrastructure maintenance, and compliance activities. This role operates with a high degree of independence within standard operating procedures and plays a key role in ensuring safe, secure, and audit‑ready data center operations.

Responsibilities

Work Orders

  • Supports complex work requests for security installations, de‑installations, and customer deployments

  • Manages non‑standard customer security requests and custom orders, coordinating internally and with vendors as required by scope and complexity

  • Tracks customer security ticketing orders to support reporting, compliance, and audit requirements

  • Develops and distributes Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for security infrastructure projects involving multiple vendors

  • Coordinates auxiliary security equipment and supports troubleshooting and repairs to minimize downtime

  • May assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of office‑based or supporting security systems where required

Incident Management

  • Responds to on‑site security incidents and events, including system failures, operational issues, and delays, applying sound judgment and established procedures

  • Coordinates security response activities with on‑site teams, security guards, and internal stakeholders during incidents

  • Completes incident reporting and contributes to root cause analysis for security‑related events

  • Applies deep understanding of the security incident decision matrix and coordinates incident declarations with the Equinix Operations Center (EOC)

  • Works with stakeholders to support Internal Incident Reports (IIRs) and Post Incident Reports (PIRs) where required

Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance

  • Supports complex security infrastructure issues involving Access Control Systems (ACS) and Video Management Systems (VMS), investigating and resolving system issues and condition reports in line with policies and standards

  • Provides subject‑matter input on preventive maintenance activities for security infrastructure, ensuring timely patching, updates, and system availability

  • Supports day‑to‑day operations of critical security infrastructure and system reliability.

  • Participates in customer‑facing security engagements, including negotiated audits, custom security solutions, and cage build initiations

  • Coordinates security asset inventory, including IP address management for security devices and systems

Vendor & Guard Force Management

  • Oversees day‑to‑day performance of site security guards and guarding vendors, ensuring alignment with site security procedures, post orders, and operational expectations

  • Acts as an escalation point for guard‑related issues, incidents, or performance concerns in coordination with site management

  • Supports onboarding, training alignment, and procedural compliance for guarding personnel as security requirements evolve

  • Coordinates guarding coverage requirements for special activities, incidents, audits, customer engagements, or infrastructure changes

  • Supports vendor activities associated with customer security buildouts and internal security infrastructure projects

  • Coordinates with site management teams to interface with third‑party auditors, supporting information requests for internal and external audits

Site Administration

  • Applies strong understanding of security processes, procedures, and quality controls to ensure deployments and guard operations meet published standards

  • Supports continuous improvement by recommending enhancements to methods, procedures, training materials, and post orders

  • Reviews, maintains, and updates security drawings, guard post documentation, and site‑specific security records

Collaboration

  • Provides operational and technical support to security stakeholders, including guard teams, during complex maintenance and security activities

  • Supports the development and delivery of training initiatives related to security systems, procedures, and guard operations for Data Center personnel

  • Works collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and coordinates security activities that may impact facility infrastructure or customer environments

  • Applies deep knowledge of security policies and standards to participate in multiple, concurrent security and infrastructure initiatives

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Diploma and 4–6 years of equivalent work experience, preferably in physical security, data center operations, or critical infrastructure environments

  • Experience working with site security guards or guarding vendors, along with ACS/VMS platforms, incident response, and audits, is strongly preferred
