We Are Hiring! Data Center & Critical Infrastructure Engineers — You Are the Ideal Candidate
Business Analyst – EOC SSM & PIR Team
Why This Role Is Built for Engineers
This is not a traditional “business analyst” role. It’s an engineering-informed role at the heart of incident learning—turning complex, mission-critical events into clear, factual Post Incident Reports (PIRs) that improve reliability, strengthen Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and reduce repeat incidents.
If you’ve worked in always-on environments where power, cooling, network, and hardware dependencies matter, you already have the instincts this role needs.
• You understand how incidents unfold in live data center / critical infrastructure environments
• You know the operational reality behind “customer impact” and “service restoration”
• You ask the right technical questions to validate RCA and corrective actions
• You can translate complex engineering events into clean, customer-ready documentation
• You thrive in 24×7 operations and understand global handovers and urgency
• You care about repeat-incident reduction, reliability, and continuous improvement
Job Summary
The Business Analyst role within the EOC SSM & PIR team plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, timely, customer-facing Post Incident Reports (PIRs) as part of the incident management process. This position is responsible for the creation, coordination, workflow management, approval, and delivery of PIR documentation for both internal and external customers.
Maintaining the integrity of PIR operational procedures is essential to this role. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of data center and/or critical infrastructure operations, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and corrective action documentation to ensure accuracy, clarity, and technical credibility.
You will partner closely with Engineering, Data Center Operations, Problem Management, the EOC, and Customer Success to produce industry-leading PIR documentation that is trusted globally—raising the quality of communication and enabling meaningful operational improvement across regions.
About the Team & Mission
The mission of the Equinix Operations Center (EOC) is to provide customers with proactive monitoring, incident, security and event management with speed, quality, and transparency. The EOC oversees ongoing site monitoring worldwide and ensures prompt, accurate communication about incidents that occur.
The SSM & PIR team sits at the intersection of operations and customer trust—capturing what happened, why it happened, what we learned, and what we’ll change to prevent recurrence.
What You Will Do (And Why Engineers Excel)
Engineers excel here because you understand dependencies, failure modes, and what “good” looks like in corrective action. Your job is to turn engineering reality into reports and documentation that drive learning and prevent repeat issues.
Responsibilities
• Prepare and deliver customer-facing Post Incident Reports (PIRs), including incident details, technical timelines, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), corrective actions, and customer impact, in line with established EOC standards
• Validate technical accuracy by asking the right questions, challenging assumptions, and ensuring PIRs contain zero factual errors
• Coordinate inputs and approvals across Engineering, Operations, EOC, and Customer Success to deliver PIRs on time
• Improve and standardise PIR workflows, templates, documentation standards, and communication practices across regions
• Draft, review, and maintain EOC process and procedure documentation supporting all EOC process disciplines
• Perform quality assessments and track relevant metrics to improve incident management quality, consistency, and customer experience
• Create multimodal enablement content (e.g., workflows, process schematics, internal library articles, instructional videos) that simplifies complex operational and engineering processes
• Support training and enablement initiatives (e.g., curriculum and documentation for agent development) in partnership with Training & Development leadership
• Maintain records and style guides; edit written materials for clarity, consistency, and compliance; stay current on tools and best practices
• Contribute to application and knowledge improvements (e.g., submitting enterprise enhancement requests for knowledge systems/tools such as ServiceNow/ESH)
Qualifications
Required
• Engineering experience within data centers, critical infrastructure, or other mission-critical environments (e.g., facilities, electrical/mechanical, network, hardware/infrastructure operations)
• Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical/operational topics into concise, customer-ready written communication
• Strong incident response mindset: ability to work calmly and accurately under urgency and ambiguity
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience with corrective action development (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) and a focus on repeat-incident reduction
• Exceptional English language proficiency (minimum CEFR B2), both written and spoken
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional, global teams; comfortable operating in fast-moving, 24×7 environments
