Data Center Logistics Specialist

Who are we?

Job Summary
As a Logistics Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the movement of equipment, materials, and supplies within our data centers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, operations, and vendors, to ensure timely delivery and accurate inventory management.

Responsibilities

• Supports the team by controlling stock inventory and ensuring documentation accuracy

• Collaborates with internal/external customers and other departments to ensure timely deliveries

• Works on assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations

• Receives minimal instruction on daily tasks and general guidance on new assignments

Documentation & System Updates

• Ensures accuracy of supporting documentation

• Uses system tools to maintain accurate records and escalates when queries arise

• Enters all goods received into the stock inventory system, updates the database, and verifies items received against order requirements

Shipping & Receiving

• Receives goods delivered to the Data Center, either directly or following acceptance by security

• Assists in daily warehouse duties, fulfilling internal customer requirements and ensuring shipment accuracy

• Coordinates the dispatch and efficient delivery of goods to required destinations; obtains receipt confirmation

• Utilizes Shipment Spotlight and shipment dashboard for inbound/outbound customer shipments

Problem Solving

• Contacts suppliers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and internal customers regarding stock and projected delivery times for special orders

Inventory Management

• Allocates stock inventory to internal customers and schedules material movement to and from the Data Center

• Coordinates inventory transfers with related departments, including applying proper safety procedures for hazardous materials

• Maintains minimum/maximum stock levels for project and operations teams

• Assists with monthly physical counts, reconciles variances, and inputs data into the Warehouse Management System (WMS) using the Equinix database

• Picks and verifies items ordered, storing them in relevant Data Center bins for standard orders

• Notifies recipients of any quantity shortfalls and backorder timelines

Hazardous Materials

• Handles hazardous materials independently

• Ensures proper storage of hazardous materials

• Follows and complies with protocols as described by regional regulatory bodies

Equipment

• Organizes stored and/or abandoned equipment and maintains equipment inventory

• Uses aging shipment business processes/tools for shipments over 5, 14, 30, and 90 days

• Liaises with the Customer Service Associate (CSA) team to resolve related issues

• Tracks "in use" and "highly available" software licenses

• Manages software licenses using lifecycle tools and historical data

Data Center Support

• Assists with delivery and removal of customer equipment from cages

• Supports Smart Hands (SH) requests by packing customer equipment with appropriate materials for shipment

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of equivalent work experience in a warehousing/logistics environment; familiarity with IT/Data Center equipment preferred

• Regional hazardous materials certification preferred
