The best thing about my Equinix internship

What made you decide to join Equinix?

I was interested in working with people from around the world, so a global company like Equinix was the perfect opportunity for me. I also like to work in teams, so I really appreciated the “we before me” culture of Equinix.

What skills did you gain from your internship?

The key takeaways from my internship would definitely be the soft skills I developed. Having one-on-one conversations with sales engineers from all of the Asia-Pacific countries allowed me to understand their different communication preferences. I was also invited to meetings with clients, which allowed me to observe and learn how to build relationships with customers.

What is the team’s culture like?

The team that I worked with closely during my three-month internship was very welcoming and helpful. Not only was I able to seek help from them easily, they were also very open to sharing about their own experiences at Equinix with me. Even though a sentence such as “Feel free to contact me if you need help” is so simple, it made me feel welcome and more inclined to learn new skills.

What advice would you give to your juniors keen to join Equinix for an internship or a full-time role?

I would advise juniors to come in with an open mind and be willing to try new things. The internship program at Equinix has presented me with many opportunities, such as speaking with executives. Grasp all opportunities that come your way and don’t be afraid to speak up!
