Equinix is the world’s digital infrastructure company®, shortening the path to connectivity to enable the innovations that enrich our work, life and planet.

A place where bold ideas are welcomed, human connection is valued, and everyone has the opportunity to shape their future.

Joining our operations team means being at the center of everything – maintaining and evolving critical infrastructure that powers the digital world and delivers real impact for our customers, communities and society. You’ll find belonging, purpose, and a team that welcomes you—because when you feel valued, you’re empowered to do your best work.

This role may suit you if you’ve worked as:

Electrical Engineer • Industrial Electrician • Facilities Electrician • Maintenance Electrician • Building Services Engineer • Technical Services Engineer• Field Service Engineer

About the Role

If you’re an experienced Electrical Engineer or Electrician who enjoys working on large, complex building systems, this is an opportunity to apply your skills in a highly professional, safety‑critical environment — without needing prior data centre experience.

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and operating electrical, mechanical, and life‑safety systems within our technically advanced Data Centre LD13 that must remain operational 24/7. Think power systems, backup supplies, HVAC, fire protection, and building controls, all working together to support critical operations.

You won’t be thrown in at the deep end — you’ll work alongside experienced engineers, follow clear procedures, and gradually build deeper exposure to complex infrastructure.

What You’ll Be Working On

Electrical & Building Systems

  • Electrical distribution systems, backup power, and plant equipment
  • Planned preventative maintenance and fault‑finding
  • Diagnosing and responding to alarms from building and power monitoring systems
  • Supporting safe operation of live environments with clear procedures

Maintenance & Fault Response

  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical and associated systems
  • Investigate faults, failures, and abnormal readings and help restore systems safely
  • Make minor electrical or mechanical changes where required
  • Escort and supervise specialist contractors on site

Safety, Permits & Documentation

  • Work with permits and method statements (training provided if new)
  • Complete maintenance logs and work records
  • Follow strict safety, isolation, and escalation processes

Teamwork & Development

  • Work closely with other engineers and technicians on site
  • Share knowledge and support colleagues with general maintenance activities
  • Contribute ideas to improve reliability, safety, and efficiency

What You Bring

  • A solid background as an Electrician or Electrical Engineer
  • Experience working on building services, industrial plant, or complex facilities
  • Confidence fault‑finding electrical systems using procedures and documentation
  • Comfortable working in a structured, safety‑critical environment
  • Strong attention to detail and a calm, methodical approach

No data centre experience required — full systems, processes, and site training provided.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Electrical qualification (NVQ level 3, LV/HV certification, BS:7176), or strong practical experience
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance, facilities, utilities, or industrial settings
  • Experience working with live systems and following safety procedures

Why Consider This Role?

  • Exposure to high‑value, technically advanced infrastructure
  • Excellent environment to expand beyond core electrical work
  • Clear procedures, strong safety culture, and modern facilities
  • Long‑term career pathways into senior engineering or technical specialist roles

Many engineers join us from industrial, facilities, manufacturing, or building services backgrounds and build highly respected careers without ever having worked in a data centre before.

You don’t need data centre experience — just solid electrical fundamentals and a professional mindset.

If you’re proud of doing things properly, safely, and methodically, apply now and we’ll train you the rest.
